Our philosophy is to teach safe and quality lessons through traditional horsemanship from the ground up. We work with all our riders to set fun and challenging yet obtainable goals.  Beginning youth riders follow their progress on our wall chart while more Advanced youth and adult riders keep track of their own goals and progress.  We teach that commitment, ambition and hard work pay off and encourage riders to enjoy their success!

Walk- Trot & Advanced Walk-Trot:
For riders just starting out we have quiet and experienced school horses/ponies for private and group lessons.
  • Level A: Walk-Trot beginners are kept in private lessons until they are able to stop, steer and work at the trot. They must also demonstrate the ability to safety groom and tack up their horse or pony with limited assistance.
  • Level B: Advanced Walk-Trot riders are proficient in the above skills and work on mastering the posting trot, work without stirrups and they may start to canter.
  • Level A & B group lessons are a 3:1 ratio (rider to instructor)

Walk-Trot-Canter:
Riders who have mastered all the skills for level A & B progress to Walk-Trot-Canter (Level C).
  • Level C: Riders become independent in handling their horse, tacking up and mounting.
  • More canter work is introduced as are several advanced skills at the walk, trot and canter.

Dear New Rider,
We are so excited that you will be joining us for riding lessons.  Since you have chosen a traditional Hunter/Jumper facility that teaches riding with a progressive edge and classic horsemanship in a focused, positive and safe environment you have taken the first step to being successful.
From your very first lesson you will get to know all our equine staff that will be teaching you as you work with them in a partnership.  Riders who are part of the Great Escape Stables community learn horsemanship from the ground up.  We strongly believe in self-sufficient horsemen who are not just great riders but knowledgeable horseman.
We achieve this through private and small lesson sizes, quality lesson horses, a structured program that is goal oriented, an organized and well maintained facility, professional staff that have been working with horses for years and have a strong, reputable background.  We strive to provide our riders with the best in programs, amenities, horse care and customer service in a family friendly/young adult atmosphere.
As the owner and trainer of Great Escape Stables, I look upon GES as a passion, not a job or business.  Horses, Riding and Teaching are as natural to me as breathing.  I love what I do and take pride in our facility, the horses, my own achievements and the achievements of all my riders.  I take a vested interest in all my students and wish nothing more for them then to achieve their goals and to see their happiness when they reach success.  Our riders and horses will always find support at Great Escape Stables.
We look forward to meeting you and welcome you to our barn community!
